RLG targets 15% sales rise after major restructuring

Rukluke Learning Group (RLG), a media group focusing on parenting and family content, expects sales growth of 15% to 560 million baht this year on its business restructuring.

The group is focusing on creative and innovation learning to serve customer demand.

Values from consumer insight, content marketing, creativity and convergence media will be leveraged to provide total solutions for a wide range of consumers.

RLG will work on a digital platform to cope with the rise of online advertising and will provide an integrated communications platform.

It will diversify its target to cover older people who now represent 12% of the Thai population.

RLG Institute was established late last year to support the elderly in adjusting to modern society under the concept of the University of the Third Age, an international organisation that focuses on the education and stimulation of retired people.

The 32-year-old media company is seeking partners to strengthen its operations.

"This is our big step to move forward with sustainability into the fourth decade," said Siriporn Polcheewin, RLG's newly appointed chief executive.

RLG is also giving more weight to social learning and social creativity units.

The two new units will have training programmes focusing on community and society with different purposes, creating shared values for social learning and inspiring those who want to learn more about the concept of social creativity.

These are big changes to diversify risks from media business, which is based on the fluctuating advertising industry, and synergise its expertise to generate more revenue.

However, the communications unit remains its core business thanks to the rise of digital TV.

RLG will supply two more TV programmes to digital channels to add to two it already provides.

It expects to earn 560 million baht this year, contributed mainly by the media unit at 55%, followed by social learning (20%) and social creativity (25%).
