Mitsubishi Electric Consumer Products (Thailand) Co will expand its manufacturing and logistics capabilities with a new facility in Chon Buri province to support its Japanese parent’s growing air-conditioning systems business in Asia and other regions.

Mitsubishi will invest a total of about 2.9 billion baht in the new base. The facility, which sits on 52,800 square metres of land, will start operating as a distribution warehouse in July. It's "Integrated Logistics Centre" will consolidate four existing warehouses for final products and several other distribution functions for air-conditioning systems parts.

The two-storey factory will begin manufacturing air-conditioning systems in 2016, raising Mitsubishi Electric Consumer Products (Thailand)'s annual production capacity from 5 million units now to 7 million by March 2019.

"Not only will the new base optimise our logistics system, it will also strengthen our manufacturing capabilities," So Suzuki, president of Mitsubishi Electric Consumer Products (Thailand), said in a statement. "The global market for air-conditioning systems is growing rapidly, particularly in emerging markets, so this new production site is part of our strategy to meet demand in 142 countries."

Mitsubishi Electric Consumer Products (Thailand), established in 1989 and located at Amata Nakorn industrial estate in Chon Buri, is Mitsubishi Electric's manufacturing base for air-conditioning systems exported to global markets. The company has approximately 6,000 employees.
