Thailand, Japan to sign emissions-offset agreement

TOKYO — Japan plans to sign an agreement with Thailand as part of a programme to offset its emissions in exchange for clean-energy and energy-saving technologies.

The two countries plan to hold a signing ceremony in Japan on Thursday, according to a document provided by the Ministry of the Environment.

Japan has so far signed such an agreement with 15 other countries since 2013. Mongolia was the first to sign up for the programme, followed by Bangladesh and Ethiopia.
