SUIC opens new M.B.A. and Ph.D. International Business programmes

Silpakorn University International College (SUIC) is inviting applications for M.B.A. students in the program of Hotel and Tourism Management & International Business and Ph.D. students in the program of International Business.

"SUIC is looking to recruit students into two M.B.A. programs: Hotel and Tourism Management and International Business," Assistant Professor Dr. Surawut Watana, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs of SUIC, said. "We are also inviting applications for the Ph.D. in International Business. All curriculums here are the most up-to-date and are taught in English language."

M.B.A. in Hotel and Tourism Management

"The tourism industry is a core industry in Thailand that generates tremendous revenue," explained Dr. Sudawadee Chanpiwat, Assistant Director of Graduate Studies and Research Affairs of SUIC. "As such there is high demand from the hotel and tourism industry for management executives and planners. The hotel business is a key part of tourism, especially on the MICE side. This makes market demand for human resources in the field of hotel management high and still expanding."

The M.B.A. in Hotel and Tourism Management of SUIC is a two-year Thesis curriculum (Plan A). Students can study additional coursework upon advisor’s recommendation.

M.B.A. in International Business

"Today, Thailand and many other countries have high demand for M.B.A. graduates in International Business because only they have the management, analytical and decision skills needed," said Dr. Chantima Bunjongprasert, an instructor in the M.B.A. in International Business programme. "Our M.B.A. curriculum is divided into Plan A (Thesis curriculum) and Plan B (Independent Study and coursework). Both are two-year curriculums but the most talented and dedicated students can graduate in one-and-a-half years."

"These two programmes emphasise the importance of research so graduates can apply the knowledge they gain in their work and taking their studies to the Ph.D. level."

Ph.D. in International Business

"Ph.D. graduates in International Business are in high demand in academic and business fields because we live in the age of information economies," said Dr. Jantima. "Many companies need to hire in-depth analysts who can effectively screen data and convert it into useful information for further analysis. The Ph.D. curriculum here focuses on quantitative and qualitative research. Students do highly theoretical research in international business as well as a thesis during the three-years of study."

Improving curriculums and preparing for work-study abroad

"M.B.A. in International Business is a recently revised curriculum which we started offering in August this year," said Assistant Professor Dr. Surawut. "The content and duration of the curriculum conforms to the needs of students. Ph.D. in International Business is a new curriculum launched in August 2015. Immediately we recruited more students than we’d expected. They came from other educational institutes and businesses. It shows how intense the demand is for Ph.D. studies in this discipline."

"SUIC has a policy to encourage students to gain business experience at international level which includes signing memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with ESC Rennes School of Business in France and Kingston University in the UK, both of which are globally recognised for their business curriculums. The MoUs include focus on collaboration in terms of exchanges of instructors and students."

"Students in the M.B.A. program will go on 1-2 week study tours to the foreign universities and also visit companies. With the Ph.D. curriculum, SUIC will take the studies to a higher level by focusing on collaboration in research and encouraging students to present academic works at international conference."

"Applications for the three curriculums are divided into two intake periods. The first period runs from now till 8 January 2016 if you are applying in person or from now till 6 January 2016 if you are sending your application by the post office. Under the second intake period, you can apply in person from 25 January - 8 April 2016 or from 25 January -- 6 April 2016 if you are posting your application."
