Concert and event organiser BEC-Tero Entertainment Plc expects its show business revenue to grow by 10% in 2016, driven by the growth of music business and rising entertainment demand.

Concert and event division director Raksit Rakkandee believes the sector will be exciting as new organisers bring more shows to Thailand.

Moreover, demand for entertainment will continue to rise despite the uncertain economic situation. This is reflected in the sharp growth of music downloads and views on YouTube.

Deputy managing director Neil Thompson said these positive factors would help BEC-Tero's concert and showbiz revenue to grow by 10% next year.

"The rising momentum will continue next year after we organised 33 shows and sold 26,000 tickets this year, following 11 concerts and events and 10,000 tickets in 2014," he said.

BEC-Tero said 2015 was a banner year for concert fans with a parade of global superstars performing live in Thailand including One Direction, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Bon Jovi, Elton John and Michael Buble.

Next year the company plans to organise 34 shows, which will include international and local concerts, events, family and Broadway shows. Revenue will come from ticket sales and sponsorship.

Mr Thompson said his shows next year will have more variety and options for both mass and niche markets.

Big-name artists such as Madonna, Santana and Tom Jones will have concerts in Bangkok, while there will be eight concerts for Thai artists such as Grand Ex, Slot Machine, Thanachai "Pod" Uchhin and Thanakrit "Wan" Pannichwit.

BEC-Tero will organise event and family shows such as Disney On Ice, Bubble Legendary, Blue Man Group, teamLab and DreamWorks' Shrek the Musical.

Mr Thompson said Bangkok had already established itself as an Asian entertainment hub, with more international artists eager to bring their shows to the capital.

BEC-Tero has its strength in working with sponsors who are confident to engage in a strong integration of media platforms, while its exclusive content will allow them to connect with target audiences.

Even though the recent Bon Jovi concert was confirmed just five days before it took place in Bangkok, the power of digital media helped the event to be very successful.

BEC-Tero's website has 8-12 million views per month, while its fan page on Facebook has 8.1 million followers and its Line official account has 12 million members.
