In a separate statement, the bank said Mr Yon joined the bank in 2007 as vice-president, responsible for retail customers and businesses.

His outstanding performance contributed to the bank's leapfrogging growth and success over the past years, it said.

His past performance showed he had been an invaluable asset and instrumental to the bank's growth.

"However, Khun Yol feels now is the right time to use the experience and what he learned to create other things as are his wish and his family's.

"Recognising his capabilities, the bank resolved that Khun Yol should continue to serve as director and member of the executive committee.

The bank will announce his substitute shortly, after the nomination is approved by the Bank of Thailand, the statement said.
