The growing middle- to high-income populations and fast economic expansion in some Southeast Asian countries has encouraged Central Patana Plc (CPN), Thailand’s largest shopping mall operator, to expand outside the domestic market for the first time.

The shopping mall business in Thailand is one of the most developed in Southeast Asia, given that the country is a tourism hub. Malls such as CentralWorld, the world’s sixth largest shopping complex and one of the biggest in Southeast Asia, and Siam Paragon are destinations in their own right for shoppers from around the world.
