Total Access Communication Plc (DTAC) has set new digital services, partnerships and brand-image improvement as priorities after its net profit plunged in the second quarter this year.

DTAC had 5 billion baht left of its marketing budget for this year and it would focus on the three strategies, DTAC's newly appointed chief marketing officer Sittichoke Nopchinabutr told reporters on Monday.

"The company lost 720,000 prepaid clients in the second quarter alone, bringing its total to 25 million subscribers, a decline of 7% year-on-year. That is my biggest concern," he said.

The mobile market in the country is still mired in intense competition, especially in the prepaid segment, he said.

Regarding new services, Mr Sittichoke said DTAC would introduce a series of new digital services this year to improve clients' internet experiences.

For the partnership strategy, the company would collaborate more with local and global partners to provide new music and video streaming services and cooperate with its resellers to improve product distribution to customers, he said.

DTAC would also give away handsets to woo clients in time-limit campaigns, Mr Sittichoke said.

DTAC, the second largest mobile phone service provider in the country, on July 12 reported a net profit of 141 million baht in the second quarter of this year, down about 90% from 1.26 billion baht year-on-year.

DTAC shares fell 2.33% to 31.50 baht in trade worth 7.8 billion baht on Monday.
