SIM profit flat but other Samart units thrived in H1
Heavy competition in the mobile handset business led to flat profit growth for Samart I-Mobile Plc (SIM) in the first half of this year but parent company Samart Corp turned in a strong performance because of contributions from other units, said Samart chief executive Watchai Vilailuck.
Samart had revenue growth of 8% year-on-year to 8.87 billion baht in the period to June 30 while net profit rose 76% to 292.4 million baht.
SIM contributed 49% of the company's revenue, Samart Telcom (Samtel) 39%, and other businesses 12%. However, Samtel contributed 48% of the parent's net profit, other businesses 40% and SIM 12%.
