Mobile operators say rates are too high

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) will start imposing a daily fine of 166,667 baht on each of the five telecom companies from Friday for failing to offer mobile number portability (MNP) service.

The fine will be charged on a double-scalable method each month, meaning the fine will be 333,334 baht in the second month and 500,001 baht per day in the third month.

Great! I have been waiting years to change from DTAC to a GSM operator. Hopefully prices for GPRS will come down and speeds go up.

Great news! I have been waiting two years to change my server but keep my number which i need for my work. MNP can easily be done and has been the policy in most other countries for years. I hope this finally works, but I am skeptical, as always, since our sad country is ruled by greedy and selfish business elite who do not want progress.
