Keeping your company's online presence safe
With social networking sites becoming more of a marketing tool, all companies with an online presence should be well informed about the top 5 social networking threats that they may be exposed and how they can protect themselves. Guillaume Lovet, senior manager for the threat response team of Fortinet Technologies, elaborates:
- Malware: The Koobface worm has been scouring Facebook for more than a year, and has recently been spotted on Twitter as well. Users are misled into clicking on malicious links embedded within personal messages impersonating a (likely infected) friend (who probably was infected as well).
- Privacy: People tend to reveal too much personal information online - their social circles, comments, family photographs, workplaces, and so on. In the hands of cybercriminals, this information can be used to more effectively hack into online services' security questions, inevitably leading to effective identity theft.
