The state telecom CAT expects to buy 300 million baht worth of software from Israel's Comverse soon to finish its long-delayed prepaid 3G wireless broadband service.
CAT plans to seek approval from the newly named National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission when it is approved. It initially planned to commercially launch the first phase of 3G service called "My brand" on the 850-megahertz spectrum with high-speed packet access (HSPA) technology this month.
But CAT lacked a software backup system, known as real-time charging, to process billing.
