Intel, a US-based chip maker, foresees the local personal computer market skyrocketing next year, fuelled by the government's rehabilitation budget coinciding with IT equipment replacement due to the floods and adoption of third-generation mobile services.
Sales of PCs are expected to grow by 34-37% to 5.1 million units next year, said Accharas Ouysinprasert, managing director of Intel Microelectronics (Thailand).
Mr Accharas conceded local PC sales in the fourth quarter dropped to 700,000 units, down from the initial forecast of 1.1 million.
