The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Minister pledged the controversy surrounding the 3G deal between True Corporation and CAT Telecom will not take place again.
ICT Minister Anudith Nakornthap admitted an investigative committee has found irregularities in the deal. A conclusion is expected in February before passing the matter to relevant authorities for further scrutiny.
He insisted no other operators, including mobile leader Advanced Info Service, founded by ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra, could strike similar deals with their concession owners such as TOT Plc in the future. The state telecom enterprise is the sole operator providing commercial 3G mobile service on the international standard 2100-megahertz frequency, though it does not have a licence to do so.
