The three major mobile operators _ AIS, DTAC and True Move _ have increased their network capacities by up to 50% each to cope with an expected skyrocketing of traffic on New Year's Eve.
E-greeting traffic via social media networking is also expected to double during the same period thanks to increasing mobile internet demand on the third-generation (3G) network.
Wilai Kiengpradu, AIS's chief of public relations, said the company boosted radio network capacity by 50% for both voice and data traffic, especially in tourist destinations and public transportation areas, as well as New Year's countdown activities.
