Scopad of China, a dark horse in the race to supply tablets to students, now looks likely to win the government's One Tablet per Child contract at US$81 per unit.
Shenzhen Scope’s Scopad SP0712 model has a seven-inch display with built-in 3G, capacitive touchscreen, 1.2-GHz core processor unit, 512MB RAM, 8-GB storage and Google’s Android 3.2.
The Chinese manufacturer of televisions and display terminals passed the Thai government's terms of reference requirements with the lowest bid price, ahead of its compatriots Huawei, TCL, ZTE and Lenovo.
