Dtac fined B10m for system failure

Total Access Communication (Dtac), the country’s second-ranked mobile phone operator, has been fined 10 million baht for its repeated systems failure late last month, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) said on Wednesday.

NBTC secretary-general, Takorn Tantasit, said Dtac had failed to ensure that its mobile phone service system was up to international standards, resulting in a lack of service to its customers.

He said the fine was in line with the Telecommunications Business Act of 2001, which stipulates that mobile phone service providers must ensure there would be no systems problems that would cause communication problems for their clients.

Pay 10 million fine to National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission for what ? Compensations have to be paid to DTAC's customers not to fat cat civil servants, please.
