NBTC postpones ruling on True-CAT deal

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has put off for another month its decision on the fate of the third-generation (3G) contract between True Corporation and CAT Telecom.

The watchdog gave its investigative panel an additional 30 days to seek clearer legal evidence before ruling on whether the BFKT contract, one of six between True and CAT, violates Section 46 of the Telecommunications Business Act.

Earlier this month, the panel suggested BFKT, an affiliate of True, broke the law unintentionally by leasing network equipment without a licence.
