Fighting to survive, TOT seeks partners on wireless projects

TOT Plc is looking for partners to jointly invest in some business projects, focusing mainly on 3G wireless broadband and future 4G service and adding value to its infrastructure rental network.

The partnership needs to be approved by the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) and the cabinet due to the requirement by Public-Private Joint Venture Act 1992. Any public-private investment project worth more than 1 billion baht must be scrutinised by both.

Udom Puasakul, chairman of the TOT board, said potential partners were those which can help generate revenue and increase TOT's asset value.

    They need to concentrate on good customer service that is sadly lacking.The company seems to behave almost a military air about it,wonder why?

    The TOT's natural partner is AIS. The sooner they accept this fact and secure partnership with the country's No 1 operator the quicker they can resolve this impending crisis. The TOT provide the infrastructure and AIS, with its massive subscriber base and branding, generate income. The problem is that AIS has always been (and always will be) associated with Mr. T - and this does not sit well with the (appointed) Senate, the military and certain elements within the TOT. This puts the TOT in a v difficult position of having to rely on other partners that not only add zero value to the organization, but worsen its financial status.
