Narrow criteria set for security channel

- +

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has determined that only state agencies will be eligible for public digital television related to national security.

Out of the 12 public digital TV channels, the NBTC has reserved four channels for existing broadcast operators to air a parallel broadcast, or simulcast, on the 1-4 channels.

They are Channel 5, owned by the Royal Thai Army; Channel 11, run by the Public Relations Department of Thailand; the Thai Public Broadcasting Service; and the new children's channel owned by Thai PBS.
