Satellite TV operators will transmit signals in high definition (HD) to compete with other broadcasting platforms including digital terrestrial and cable.
PSI Holding, the country's largest satellite dish provider, will shift its signal transmission from MPEG2 to MPEG4 systems, which will provide clearer pictures and optimise the satellite's capacity usage.
"It's a technological transition for the satellite industry to second generation from first generation. The broadcast standard will be equal to the existing digital terrestrial TV technology DVB-T2," said a PSI source.
