The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) will award Channel 10 as the first public digital TV channel this October.
The information memorandum (IM) details for public service channels for type 3 are done, and some focus groups will be organised for interested parties next week. After that, the regulator will open applications for Channel 10 next month.
Col Natee Sukonrat, chairman of the NBTC's broadcasting committee, said applications will be considered based on executive experience, staff readiness, funding and the channel's policy, objective, vision, mission, and strategy. The channel operator must air content that allows the public to express its opinion, he added.
