Protests hurt smartphone sales

- +

The ongoing political turmoil will hurt the local smartphone market this year, with sales dropping in the final two months for the first time, says a global research firm.

GfK Retail and Technology (Thailand) forecasts sales of smartphones in Thailand will decline by 10-15% in November and December from October levels.

The first nine months of this year saw 7.2 million smartphones sold in Thailand to make the country Southeast Asia's second-largest smartphone market.
