Telecom spectrum road map slated for June

- +

A five-year national road map for telecommunications spectrum will be completed by June after months of delay, says the vice-chairman of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).

Col Settapong Malisuwan said the five-year road map covering 2014-18 is specially tailored to accommodate skyrocketing mobile data usage and to prepare the long-term telecom direction, following 2012's 3G spectrum auction for the 2.1-gigahertz spectrum.

The road map lays out the direction for reallocating existing telecom spectrum covering the 900-megahertz, 1,800-MHz, 2,300-MHz, 2,600-MHz and 700-MHz spectra, he said.
