DTAC chooses new chief

Total Access Communication (DTAC) has named Lars-Ake Norling as its chief executive effective from April 1. He replaces interim chief executive Sigve Brekke, who remains on the company's board of directors and keeps his role as executive vice-president and head of Telenor Asia.

Mr Norling, currently head of DiGi.Com Bhd in Malaysia, also part of Telenor Group, has the task of turning DTAC into Thailand's leading internet operator.

Boonchai Bencharongkul, chairman of the DTAC board, said he believed Mr Norling would bring relevant technical and commercial experience from two of the world's most advanced digital markets, Sweden and Malaysia.

Mr Norling brings significant industry experience to DTAC. He joined DiGi as chief executive in August 2014, where he has overseen the company's strong development of revenues and market position.

DTAC's internet plan is supported by a network expansion drive, said Mr Brekke.
