TOT Plc's labour union further flexed its muscles against the board of directors by rallying at three anti-graft bodies to demand it be given the 900-megahertz spectrum from its concessionaire, Advanced Info Service Plc, after the concession ended yesterday.

More than 1,000 TOT employees took to the streets yesterday to protest against the board, claiming they had failed to protect the benefits of the state telecom.

The protesters rallied at its headquarters before marching to the three anti-graft bodies at the Government Complex on Chaeng Watthana Road: the Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission, the Office of the Ombudsman and the Office of the Auditor General.

TOT labour union president Anuchit Toopleung said he submitted letters to representatives of all three state bodies asking them to scrutinise the performance of the board over the return of the 900-MHz spectrum.

The union also voiced opposition to the planned 900-MHz spectrum auction in December.

It asked the agencies to consider whether the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission had the authority to auction TOT's 900-MHz spectrum.

TOT has the right to use the spectrum, as it was given permission to operate it without an expiry date by the defunct national spectrum management committee 20 years ago, Mr Anuchit insisted.
