Thailand's leading cinema operators, Major Cineplex and SF Cinema Group, insist they will hold ticket prices at current levels, and claim their popcorn is expensive because it is imported.

This is a perfect example of the price Thai people pay for corruption. How many other countries have built rail links to new airports? What did Thailand learn from them? Stations with one escalator? Stations not connected to other trains? Need to buy up to three different sets of tickets? What tourist would feel comfortable using this if they read this article? And it will operate at a loss for years?? It is something like this that should bring the country together to protest/rally against all politicians. Think of the money wasted to line the pockets of the already rich and powerful.

Ya gotta’ love it! A rail link from an airport is a potential tourism “bonanzaâ€. Sure, once the word gets out, tourists will come flocking back to Thailand, please. First of all, don’t get too excited about the grand opening of the link on August 23; it hasn’t happened yet! Secondly it’s a link to nowhere as the opening sentence states, in contradiction, “but a number of critical missing links impede connectivity with the city's mass-transit systemsâ€. This reminds me of the newspaper headlines of a year ago when Chiangmai was banking on its baby panda to turn the tide in decreasing tourist numbers. Good luck. Let’s first see if the link actually opens this time.

I always travel from Suvarnabhumi to my hotel on Sukhumvit Road (soi 5) and it never takes longer then 45 minutes. As mentionned by Glen already, they take you from door to door and you have aircon all the way !
I'll always prefer the taxi !

Without easier passage between the train stations and the mass transit stations this whole this is going to be a no-go for tourists with luggage. Which is probably a large majority of them.
What good is the quick rail link if you have to then go through the hassle of connecting to another transit system and then ultimately to a hot, sticky walk to your hotel or a ride in a local taxi? Frankly I don't understand why people are so down on taxis. They take you door to door to you hotel/destination and usually for less than US$15 or so. Maybe I have just been lucky but none of my taxi rides between the airport and city (Silom area) have taken more than 45 minutes to an hour. And often the trip is more like 30 minutes.

And what about those, who want to catch a taxi near Asoke area once they get off this railway link? Perhaps they will spend another hour to get to Silom/Sathorn or 45 minutes to Sukhumvit? The location of the station in the city is just stupid!

Those fake Tour Guides & Taxi Mafia Gangs will adopt to the New Situation fairly soon as they always has been. I can see these fake tourist guide touts entering The AirportLink trains in droves trying to do business as usual... It's now up to them Police and Security personal to prevent those scammers, touts and hudlums of doing!

Call me "Old Fashion" or just plain "Stupid" but I'm going to miss the "Old School" romance of sitting in traffic for an hour and a half after getting haggled & hassled at the airport by touts and hustlers...NOT!!!
