Bangkok top tourist destination

Bangkok was ranked first among the top 10 tourist destinations in 2011 by the Ministry of Tourism & Sports, which completed the list with assistance from private operators.

The other nine destinations are Chon Buri, Phuket, Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, Chiang Mai, Rayong, Songkhla, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Krabi.

The ranking was completed with an aim to encourage provinces to develop their tourism sites, said permanent secretary Suwat Sidthilaw.

The article fails to mention a couple of items. This is the first ever survey conducted (or contracted) by the MOTS since it was established in 2002. Also, Bangkok is ranked #1 in Thailand (like they needed a survey for this?)

Not sure who they talked to but cannot understand seeing Rayong or Songkhla in the top 10. I would think Koh Samui, Koh Chang, Khon Kaen, Nong Khai, Chiang Khan get more tourists.

Looks like another worthless survey/poll.
