"... ongoing debt crisis in Europe has had no effect on the country’s tourism-related industries ..." although, the customer has no money to buy, we still can sell? MAGIC!

I don't believe them. 30 years in the tourist business and I've never seen so few arriving from Europe as now (SARS epidemic maybe the exception). Have a look around C Mai, deserted.

Quit frankly I do not see where the information comes from,Is it like the statement a few weeks ago when the PM stated on the same program that the euro crisis would have very little effect on exports. Tourism is down throughout the euro zone why should it be different in Thailand.Air fares are about the only thing that have not gone down. That is the problem plus are we playing catch up from last years decline due to the flood disaster caused by these so called experts. Are trying to regain there lost credibility?.

The Minister of Tourism and Sports is living in Fantasy Land. And, if the PM believes him, she should go and have her head examined.

Revenue from tourism is increasing. Good news. The poor are not benefiting from it. Bad news.

Tourists from North Korea? Has to be one way only.

I believe that every "visa run" of every single foreigner staying in Thailand is counted as the arrival of a foreign tourist, which would in part explain these seemingly inflated numbers.

I believe that the Euro economic situation cannot help but impact tourism. The numbers they are citing are merely estimates...I would like to see arrival numbers by country.
Having said that I believe the larger numbers are coming from Russia and China, both of whom have yet to be fully impacted by the economic situation as of yet. But both of these groups travel in large inexpensive package tours and tend to spend minimal amounts other than what was paid for and included in the tour package. They may fill up the tourist class hotels, but add little to the rest of the economy.
