What would encourage more tourist visitors is the scrapping of the double-pricing in place at most attractions. Make it the same price for everyone and the numbers would increase overnight.
I have never (in 7 years in Thailand) paid more than the Thai price - if the attraction refuses I just turn round and take the family elsewhere.

I visited that Angkor Museum in Siem Reap shortly after it opened and thought it was terrible. Artifacts placed haphazardly, little signage, very little explanation of what the various items were or why they were important. Maybe it has improved since then. But if this guy is involved with that company I am not sure he is in much of a position to give advice.

I have visited a number of museums in various locations and have yet to find one that has exhibition standards that are remotely up to best practice standards. This is a great pity because there is so much that is fascinating to learn about so many aspects of Thailand. Most exhibits are simply placed in a cabinet with a poorly designed commentary worthy of a museum in the early part of the last century. This is simply not going to engage anyone who has grown up in the age of interactive audio-visual communications. It is long past the time when professionals should have been brought in to make learning about history and culture a vibrant and engaging event worth the money that is charged.

I am Thai and live in San Francisco, California and on a long vacation here. I agreed we need better marketing strategies. There are many world-class museums, including Bangkok Art and Cultural Center which I love to visit to see new exhibitions during my stay here. Unfortunately there were not many visitors each time I was there. In California, there will always lines of interested people who are happy to pay tickets to see art shows. Come on people, let's give support to the Thai art community and let's encourage each other to go see art shows often!
