Improving Your English with the Bangkok Post

(EFL and ESL reading)

Improving Your English with the Bangkok Post is an exciting programme to help interested readers take advantage of our newspaper to improve their English.

Feature focus is the Monday column based on the variety of topics and different styles of writing found in feature stories throughout the Bangkok Post. The lesson provides background information, skill-building practice and vocabulary explanations.

Translate it, our Tuesday column, is an innovative column that appeals to a wide variety of readers. Its primary purpose is to help interested readers learn to accurately translate English texts into Thai, but it also serves extremely well as an English lesson for those who appreciate some Thai language support in their studies. The column has also found a loyal following among foreigners who are learning Thai at an advanced level.

About business, our Wednesday column, focuses exclusively on business matters. It is based on the content of the business section of the Bangkok Post and is one of the few educational columns to focus on current business news. Each column consists of background and commentary followed by an actual story from the Bangkok Post, accompanied by explanations of key vocabulary terms.

What’s news, our Thursday column, is an English lesson based on developing news stories. Each lesson consists of original commentary and background about one or more significant news stories and a vocabulary guide. One unique feature of What's News is that since the column deals with developing news, readers can apply what they have learned to actual stories that appear in the news.

Post tips, our Friday column is a complete lesson plan designed for teachers to use with their classes. This term features a series of "classic lessons" which teachers can use as models for future lessons of your own with the constantly updating material from the Bangkok Post.
Look at the summary of the previous term's lessons on using the newspaper in class here.
