buat naak
The best time to practice this tradition is during Buddhist Lent when monks stay in one place. Newly ordained monks then have an opportunity to study dhamma from them and learn to closely follow their exemplary life. Therefore the ordination ceremony normally takes place one or two weeks before the actual beginning of Lent. This week lets talk about a common aspect of an ordination, kaan buat naak.
Once in lifetime of each Buddhist Thai man, he should spend some days in the monkhood. The ultimate goal of the custom is to train himself, by means of dhamma study and practice, to be a better person. Hopefully, following the righteous path of the clergy world will lead him to a life of virtue. At the same time, his devotion repays his obligations to his parents.
