Translating newspaper English to Thai

Chris:	chuang naarawn nii khun mai pai nai roe Samoe
	ช่วงหน้าร้อนนี้ คุณไม่ไปไหนเหรอ เสมอ	Aren’t you going anywhere this hot season, Samoe?
	phom mai dai yin khun phuut thueng reuang nii loey
	ผมไม่ได้ยินคุณพูดถึงเรื่องนี้เลย	I haven’t heard you say anything about it.
Samoe:	phom ka ja klapbaan thii Chumphawn
	ผมกะจะกลับบ้าน ที่ชุมพร	I plan to go back home to Chumphon.
Chris:	khun ja pai muearai
	คุณจะไปเมื่อไร	When are you going to go?
Samoe:	phom ka waa ja pai kawn wanyut songkraan ja dai thiew kawn thii khon ja yoe
	ผมกะว่าจะไปก่อนวันหยุดสงกรานต์ จะได้เที่ยวเสียก่อนที่คนจะเยอะ	I plan to go before Songkran Festival —to go before it gets too crowded.
Chris:	khon paithiew Chumphawn kan yoe roe
	คนไปเที่ยวชุมพรกันเยอะเหรอ	Do a lot of people go there?
Samoe:	yoe maak
	เยอะมาก	Lots.
Chris:	mii arai naathiew baang la
	มีอะไรน่าเที่ยวบ้างล่ะ	What are some of tourist spots there?
Samoe:	suanmaak khon ja paithiew koh kan damnam duu pakaarang chim aahaan thaley sot sot
	ส่วนมากคนจะไปเที่ยวเกาะกัน ดำน้ำ ดูปะการัง ชิมอาหารทะเลสดๆ	Most people like to go to islands, go diving, look at corals, (and) try fresh seafood.
Chris:	phom chawp thaley lae phuukhao maak
	ผมชอบทะเลและภูเขามาก	I love seas and mountains a lot.
Samoe:	Chumphawn mii thang sawn yaang muean jangwat phaaktai doay thuapai
	ชุมพรมีทั้งสองอย่าง เหมือนจังหวัดภาคใต้โดยทั่วไป	Chumphon has both, like the southern provinces in general.
	thaa pai tai kaw paithiew thaley phuukhao namtok lae chim aahaan thaley sot sot rue aahaan phuenbaan rotjat
	ถ้าไปใต้ ก็ไปเที่ยวทะเล ภูเขา น้ำตกและชิมอาหารทะเลสดๆ หรืออาหารพื้นบ้านรสจัด	If (people) go to the South, (they can) go to the sea, mountains, waterfalls and try fresh seafood or strong-taste local dishes.
Chris:	chai welaa doenthaang naan mai
	ใช้เวลาเดินทางนานไหม	Does the trip take long?
Samoe:	thaa pai rotthua kaw pramaan haa hok chuamoang
	ถ้าไปรถทัวร์ก็ประมาณห้าหกชั่วโมง	It takes about five to six hours by a tour coach.
Chris:	ummm! mai klai maak
	อือม์! ไม่ไกลมาก	Umm! (It) isn’t very far.
Samoe:	thaew paktai nii phonlamai kaw udomsombuun khaakhrawngchiip kaw mai suung
	แถวปักษ์ใต้นี่ ผลไม้ก็อุดมสมบูรณ์ ค่าครองชีพก็ไม่สูง	In the South, fruit is in abundant and the cost of living is not so high.
Chris:	fang duu laew naa paithiew jing jing
	ฟังดูแล้ว น่าไปเที่ยวจริงๆ	That sounds a good place for touring.
Samoe:	khun ja pai phrawm phom kaw dai na khun ja dai hen mueang jing jing maichai chaphoh laeng thawngthiew
	คุณจะไปพร้อมผมก็ได้นะ คุณจะได้เห็นเมืองจริงๆ ไม่ใช่เฉพาะแหล่งท่องเที่ยว	You can go together with me, (if you like.) You will see the real town, you won’t see only the tourist spots.
Chris:	ja ropkuan khun rue plao phom krengjai
	จะรบกวนคุณหรือเปล่า ผมเกรงใจ	Is it okay with you? I don’t want to spoil your holiday.
Samoe:	mairawk phom ja phaa khun thiew nai mueang pai kin aahaan thaley jao thii phom ruujak dii
	ไม่หรอก ผมจะพาคุณเที่ยวในเมือง ไปกินอาหารทะเลเจ้าที่ผมรู้จักดี	Why not? I’ll take you to look around town and have seafood at the place I know well.
	thaa khun yaak pai thiew koh damnam duu pakaarang kaw pai kap thua dai
	ถ้าคุณอยากไปเที่ยวเกาะ ดำน้ำ ดูปะการัง ก็ไปกับทัวร์ได้	If you want to go to islands to dive (and) look at the coral, you can do that with a tour (company).
Chris:	khawpkhun maak Samoe ngan phom mai krengjai la na
	ขอบคุณมาก เสมอ งั้นผมไม่เกรงใจล่ะนะ	Thank so much Samoe. I’m glad it’s not too much trouble.
Samoe:	toklong sinduean nii rao doenthaang kan loey
	ตกลง สิ้นเดือนนี้เราเดินทางกันเลย	Okay. Let’s go at the end of this month.

Do you notice this?
Worth noting is one small word Thais use a lot in everyday conversation — ka as in — phom ka ja klapbaan thii. This versatile verb has several meanings:
— 'to fix (a date),
— to estimate (the harvest),
— to guess,
— to reckon,
— to expect,
— to have in mind,
— to plan,
— to plot (a route, a course of action).
In this context ka means 'to have in mind' or 'to plan'.
Another point to note is the many ways to express the meaning of ropkuan and krengjai. In English there are many ways to express the same feeling depending on the context.
You may notice also that phaaktai (ภาคใต้), paktai (ปักษ์ใต้) and tai (ใต้) all refer to the South, ranging from official to colloquial level respectively.
