Word watch:
To make a general statement about
something, we use the term suanmaak as in: The other term which is can used interchangeably is suanyai . For example, khon Thai suanyai ja chai phuangmalai dawk mali wai phra (Most Thais use jasmine garlands to worship Buddha images.) The opposite of suanmaak and suanyai is suannoy . We can say that mii khon suannoy chai phuangmalai dawk lanthom (Very few people use frangipani garlands.) Other useful words with suan are: Vocabulary check:

phuangmaalai
I
think one beautiful practice representing a tradition of Thailand is the
use of dainty fragrant phuangmalai. This delicate string of flowers
has a place in almost every function, ordinary or special. Simple yet beautiful
garlands are for daily matters worshipping at temples, household shrines,
spirit houses and with amulets. More elaborate ones are specially produced
to welcome or say farewell to special guests on special occasions. In todays
conversation, Eddie and his Acharn talk about the use and kinds of phuangmalai.
