In Thailand, some consider cock fighting a deep-rooted traditional sport. Others look on the pastime as gambling. Taking the second view, the Ministry of Interior’s regulation prohibits the renewal of licences to run cock fighting venues. Those who raise fighting cocks claimed that the regulation violates the constitution which guarantees the promotion and cultivation of local wisdom and culture.
