Visakha Puja Day.

And why is this day significant?

pen wan prasuut wan tratsaruu lae wan parinipphan khawng phra phutthajao

เป็นวันประสูติ วันตรัสรู้
และวันปรินิพพานของ
พระพุทธเจ้า

(It) is Buddha’s birthday and it’s also the day of his attainment of Nirvana.

Jane:

วันวิสาขบูชาล่ะ

Eh… and why is it called Visakha Puja Day?

Jaeng:

phroh thang saam wan nan koet khoen trong kan

เพราะทั้งสามวันนั้น
เกิดขึ้นตรงกัน

Because all three days occurred on the same day,

nai wanphen khawng duean thii hok thaang jantharakhati

ในวันเพ็ญของเดือนที่หก
ทางจันทรคติ

on the full moon of the sixth lunar month.

nai wan nan duangjan ja praakot yuu nai muudao chuue wisaakha

ในวันนั้นดวงจันทร์จะ
ปรากฎอยู่ในหมู่ดาว
ชื่อวิสาข

On that particular day, the moon appeared in the Visakha constellation.

suan kham waa “buuchaa” maaithueng kaannapthuue

ส่วนคำว่า "บูชา”
หมายถึง “นับถือ"

And “Puja” means ‘to pay respect’.

duay kaan thuue siinpaet suatmon fangtham lae tham samaathi

ด้วยการถือศีลแปด สวดมนต์
ฟังธรรม และทำสมาธิ

by observing the eight precepts, chanting, listening to the Dhamma and practicing meditation.

How often do you spend time at the temple like this?
