Translating newspaper English to Thai

Chai:	khuuen wansuk nii khun pai loy krathong mai
	คืนวันศุกร์นี้ คุณไปลอยกระทงไหม	Are you going loy krathong this Friday night?
Chris:	pai phomchawp maak suay maak
	ไป ผมชอบมาก สวยมาก	Yes, I’m. I really enjoy that. Very beautiful!
	khonthai loy krathong maanaan laew yang
	คนไทยลอยกระทง มานานแล้วยัง	Have Thais (been celebrating) loy krathong long?
Chai:	naan laew tangtae samai Sukhoothai
	นานแล้ว ตั้งแต่สมัยสุโขทัย	Yes, since the Sukhothai Period.
Chris:	thammai khonthai jueng loy krathong kan
	ทำไมคนไทยจึง ลอยกระทงกัน	Why do Thais (celebrate) loy krathong?
Chai:	chuuea kan maa waa pen kaanbuuchaa Phraphutthajao
	เชื่อกันมาว่า เป็นการบูชาพระพุทธเจ้า	(We) believe that it’s way of worshipping the Buddha,
	pen kaankhawpkhun lae khawkhamaa Phramaekhongkhaa
	เป็นการขอบคุณและ ขอขมาพระแม่คงคา	to give thanks to and to apologise the Goddess of water,
	lae pen kaanloy thuk khawngrao pai kap saainam
	และเป็นการลอยทุกข์ ของเราไปกับสายน้ำ	and to float our sufferings away in the water.
Chris:	aw.. pen ruueang khawng saatsanaa
	อ้อ เป็นเรื่องของศาสนา	Ah, so it’s something to do with the religion
	tae suay lae sanuk duay
	แต่สวยและสนุกด้วย	but it’s also beautiful and fun.
Chai:	phomwa prapheynii nii mii saney thii jat kan nai khuuen duuean-ngaai
	ผมว่าประเพณีนี้ มีเสน่ห์ที่จัดกัน ในคืนเดือนหงาย	I think this tradition is charming because it’s celebrated on a night with a full moon.
	aakaat duueannii daw kamlang sabaai nam kaw yoe
	อากาศเดือนนี้ก็ กำลังสบาย น้ำก็เยอะ	The weather durting this month is pleasant and the water is high.
	krathong kaw suay roomaentik dii
	กระทงก็สวย โรแมนติคดี	krathongs are also beautiful — so romantic!

	จริงของคุณ	You’re absolutely right!

Language watch:

If you’re in Thailand long enough, you’ll notice that Chris in today’s conversation speaks very good clean Thai, but not very natural. What would make Chris’ lines more natural?

Common ending particles like
- si (statement, request),
- la (question),
- loey (statement), and
- hae (agreement) —
all of which are added to the end of sentences to emphasise the sense and at the same time making the speech milder.

For example,
‘pai si’ would be more natural than ‘pai’ .
