Last month a Greenpeace group claimed they’ve found GM contaminated papaya in a plantation next to the Agriculture Department’s research station. The department has since investigated the situation by collecting 600 specimens and has so far found one sample in 239 tested samples. This Post Today excerpt has more details.

ทดลองพืชสวน จ.ขอนแก่น ไปปลูกนั้น ขณะนี้กรมวิชาการเกษตรได้เก็บตัวอย่างจากแปลง
เกษตรกรไปแล้ว 600 ตัวอย่างและได้วิเคราะห์ตัวอย่างเสร็จแล้ว 239 ตัวอย่าง พบ
การปนเปื้อนมะละกอจีเอ็มโอ 1 ตัวอย่าง จากแปลงเกษตรใน อ.เมือง จ. ขอนแก่น จึงได้
สั่งให้กรมวิชาการเกษตรทำลายต้นมะละกอทั้งแปลงของเกษตรกรรายดังกล่าว และได้ประกาศ
เขตควบคุมตามพระราชบัญญัติกักพืชในรัศมี 450 เมตร รอบแปลงที่พบการปนเปื้อน เพื่อ
ควบคุมไม่ให้มีการกระจายตั้งแต่วันที่ 12 กันยายนที่ผ่านมา
