Get involved!

Are you a regular reader of learning post? In that case, you may have seen a few small changes over the last few months. Stories are generally shorter for ease of reading and the design of the section has tightened a little. We’ve also added a new column.

If you hadn’t realised, learning post is the Bangkok Post’s education section and is intended for all readers with an interest in the subject. That means parents, students and even general readers — and includes both Thais and expats. Our aim is to provide you with timely and interesting features as well as resources for language learning specifically geared to students and teachers in Thailand.

However, over the next few months, we will be planning new content that should make the section more relevant and interesting to all our readers — and this is where you come in. While we won’t be running a survey on all learning post readers’ needs and wants, we are always interested in your ideas.

So what do you want to see more of and less of in learning post in terms of content? How about the following:

  • More local education news and features
  • More international education news and features
  • More, the same or fewer language-learning resources
  • More, the same or fewer lesson-planning resources
  • Readers’ letters and expert answers
  • More or less content geared at parent-child interaction
  • More content for undergraduates and graduates
  • More opinion and analysis columns

While we can’t cover everybody’s needs, understanding what our readers want is crucial to the development of this section, so please let us know — we’ll do our best.

Something you may not know: In addition to producing learning post and Student Weekly, the Post Publishing Company’s Department of Language and Education also holds regular teacher seminars. These are aimed at helping teachers use authentic English-language resources in the classroom.

Such seminars also give us a chance to speak to teachers first-hand and understand the real issues affecting teaching in Thailand. If you are interested in attending any of these seminars, please contact us at the email address below.

We also hold regular company tours geared towards showing students the processes involved in making a newspaper. Such trips may be based around classroom projects or may be just to see how a large company is organised. Again, if you’re interested let us know.

Lastly, like all newspaper sections, learning post is nothing without its readers and we welcome all comments and suggestions, be they complimentary or otherwise.
