Translating newspaper English to Thai

Anne:	khawthoot na Aarii thii maasaai wannii
	ขอโทษนะ อารี ที่มาสายวันนี้	Sorry, I’m late, Aree!
Aree:	sawatdii ja Aen maipenrai wannii chan kaw maa saai muueankan
	สวัสดีจ้ะ แอนน์ ไม่เป็นไร วันนี้ฉันก็มาสายเหมือนกัน	Morning, Anne. Don’t worry. I was late also.
Anne:	tangtae khao pit rotfaifaa taidin chan maa tham-ngaan saai thukwan loey
	ตั้งแต่เขาปิดรถไฟฟ้าใต้ดิน ฉันมาทำงานสายทุกวันเลย	Since they’ve closed down the subway, I’m late for work every day.
Aree:	chan kaw maasaai mainaa koet ubatheyt loey na chan siajai jing jing rotfaifaa taidin tham hai chiiwit khon tham-ngaan sabaai khoen yoe
	ฉันก็มาสาย ไม่น่าเกิด อุบัติเลยนะ ฉันเสียใจจริงๆ รถไฟฟ้าใต้ดิน ทำให้ ชีวิตคนทำงานสบายขึ้นเยอะ	Me, too. The accident shouldn’t have happened. I’m so sorry about that. The subway has made the life of working people much more convenient.
Anne:	chan kaw muueankan ey.. phuakrao tit khwaamthansamai sialaew si
	ฉันก็เหมือนกัน เอ พวกเราติดความทันสมัย เสียแล้วสิ	I think so, too. Eh, we’re hooked on modern conveniences.
Aree:	chan yawmrap tae man kaw tham hai saduak jing jing na chuay prayat welaa doenthaang pai tang chuamoong nae
	ฉันยอมรับ แต่มันก็ ทำให้สะดวกจริงๆ นะ ช่วยประหยัดเวลาเดินทาง ไปตั้งชั่วโมงแน่ะ	I admit it. But it does make it very convenient and saves us an hour of our commuting time.
Anne:	yaak hai rotfaifaa taidin poet reo reo jang loey lae wangwaa khong maimii ubatheyt samroy iik
	อยากให้รถใต้ไฟฟ้าดินเปิด เร็วๆ จังเลย และหวังว่าคงไม่ มีอุบัติเหตุซ้ำร้อยอีก	I hope the subway opens so soon, and let’s hope that we won’t see any accident again.
Aree:	chan kaw wang yaangnan tae khaaowaa pen khwaamphit khawng khon maichai rabop
	ฉันก็หวังอย่างนั้น แต่ข่าวว่าเป็นความผิด ของคนไม่ใช่ระบบ	I hope not. But the news reported that it was a people’s fault, not the fault of the system.
Anne:	maiwaa ja pen khwaamphit khawng khrai chan khitwaa tawng kaekhai dai naenawn Aarii waa mai
	ไม่ว่าจะเป็นความผิด ของใคร ฉันคิดว่าต้อง แก้ไขได้แน่นอน อารีว่าไหม	No matter whose fault it was, I think there must be a way to correct it. Do you think so, Aree?
Aree:	kaw jing na Aen panhaa thuk panhaa kaekhai dai
	ก็จริงนะแอนน์ ปัญหาทุกปัญหาแก้ไขได้	That’s true, Anne. There’s always a solution to every problem.
Anne:	lae khawhai kae dai reo reo duay na
	และขอให้แก้ได้เร็วๆ ด้วยนะ	And I hope this problem can be solved very quickly.

Today let’s looking at how to agree with someone’s thinking in Thai. One most common expression you may hear quite often is:
— kaw (maa saai) muueankan (I was late also / too. So do / am / dis / was I.).

Its variations are just to say
— chan kaw muueankan
(“I think so, too.” I also think so.) or
— chan kaw maa saai.

And just say chan kaw wang yaangnan for “I hope so.”, or chan kaw wang waa [khong] mai pen yaangnan “I hope not.”
