BMCL to set up sniffer unit to sniff subway passengers

The public relations section of the Bangkok Metro Public Company Limited (BMCL) said that the company would boost confidence in security measures in its grounds by joining hands with Military Working Dog Battalion, Veterinary & Remount Department, in setting up a unit of sniffer dogs to sniff suspicious objects (the "K-9 Unit"). The unit is a part of the BMCL's Security, Safety and Rescue Division. Its main task is to monitor round the metro ground and other designated areas. The unit will comprise 12 sniffer dogs together with their handlers who are, at the moment, taking parts in four-month training courses at Veterinary & Remount Department. The unit is expected to be in operation by February 2006.

ผู้โดยสาร รฟม. โดยความร่วมมือกับกองพันสุนัขทหาร ศูนย์การฝึกสุนัขทหาร กรมการสัตว์ทหาร
กองทัพบก ได้จัดตั้งหน่วยสุนัขดมกลิ่นตรวจสอบวัตถุต้องสงสัย (K-9 Unit) ขึ้นภายในโครงสร้าง
งานฝ่ายรักษาความปลอดภัยและกู้ภัย เพื่อทำหน้าที่ตรวจตราพื้นที่ภายในสถานีรถไฟฟ้าใต้ดิน
และเขตรับผิดชอบของ รฟม. สำหรับหน่วยสุนัขดมกลิ่นที่ รฟม. จัดตั้งขึ้นนี้ประกอบด้วยสุนัข
จำนวนทั้งสิ้น 12 ตัว และเจ้าหน้าที่ควบคุมสุนัข ซึ่งขณะนี้อยู่ระหว่างการฝึกที่กองพันสุนัขทหาร
เพื่อทำหน้าที่ตรวจตราบุคคลและวัตถุต้องสงสัย ในเขตระบบรถไฟฟ้าใต้ดิน โดยมีระยะเวลาการฝึก
ประมาณ 4 เดือน และคาดว่าจะสามารถนำสุนัขที่ฝึกมาปฏิบัติหน้าที่ได้ประมาณเดือน กุมภาพันธ์
