Soi names throughout MBA to be changed into numbers, beginning October

Post Today — Deputy City Clerk Mr Talord Charunrat has announced a house registration improvement scheme in Bangkok. He said that home addresses would be numerical and that sois and sub-sois would numerical names.

Mr Talord also stated that the sois and home addresses would be given in numbers according to the name of the street. For example, houses on the left side of the street will have odd numbers such as Soi Ramkhamhaeng 1, 3, 5. Those on the right side will have even numbers like Soi Ramkhamhaeng 2, 4, 6. Thus, the new system is based on street names. All sois located on a particular street share the name of the street, and the numbers of the sub-sois will be displayed after the main soi name. Therefore, the first soi on the left of Ramkhamhaeng Road will be Soi Ramkhamhaeng 1 Yaek 1, and the first soi on the right will be Soi Ramkhamhaeng 1 Yaek 2, for example. All lanes of a sub-soi will also be numbered after a hyphen following the soi number, for instance, Soi Ramkhamhaeng 1 Yaek 1-1, based on the same concept of odd and even numbers.

นายตลอด กล่าวว่า ส่วนการกำหนดหมายเลขซอย และเลขหมายประจำบ้านนั้น จะกำหนดชื่อซอย
เป็นตัวเลขตามหลังชื่อถนน ฝั่งซ้ายเป็นเลขคี่ เช่น ซ.รามคำแหง 1, 3, 5 ฝั่งขวาเป็นเลขคู่ เช่น
ซ.รามคำแหง 2, 4, 6 ทั้งนี้ให้ใช้ชื่อถนนเป็นหลัก ซอยที่ตั้งอยู่บนถนนสายนี้ จะมีชื่อซอยเช่นเดียว
กับชื่อถนน ส่วนซอยแยกจะเป็นตัวเลขตามหลังชื่อซอยหลัก ฝั่งซ้ายของซอยเป็นเลขคี่ เช่น
ซ.รามคำแหง 1 แยก 1 ฝั่งขวาของซอยเป็นเลขคู่ เช่น ซ.รามคำแหง 1 แยก 2 เป็นต้น ส่วนการ
กำหนดชื่อซอยแยกย่อยจะเป็นตัวเลขตามหลังชื่อซอยแยก และมีเครื่องหมาย - คั่นกลางตัวเลข
ของซอยแยกและซอยแยกย่อย เช่น ซ.รามคำแหง 1 แยก 1-1 โดยฝั่งซ้ายเป็นเลขคี่ ฝั่งขวา
