Sap Jaak Khao looks at a selection of vocabulary from a timely news story in both Thai and English. It is helpful for learners of both languages March 15, 2005 On February 7, 2001, iTV, a supposedly independent television station owned by Shin Corp, fired 21 newsroom staff. Seven of them were sacked on the grounds that they criticised management for interfering in editorial content in favour of a political party. Another was dismissed for insubordination, while 13 more were laid off allegedly because of organisational restructuring. On March 8, to the great joy of those 21 iTV rebels, the Supreme Court upheld a lower courts ruling ordering the station to reinstate and pay them their salaries dating back to February 2001.
