Grand casting rite for Brahma set (A report on) the progress in restoring the Brahma statue in front of the Erawan Hotel, the holy deity highly revered and respected by Thais and foreigners for as long as 50 years, after mentally-ill Thanakorn Pakdipol smashed the statue with a hammer at midnight of March 21, was released indicating that all parties concerned agreed to cast a new Brahma statue using an alloy of nine metals consisting of gold, silver, tin, copper, mercury, iron, antimony, lead and pure mineral. In order to keep the spiritual entity within the new statue, some of the remains of the old statue will be included, according the Brahmanism belief. Thairath Friday 24 March 2006 |
