Shin Corp causes Thaksin's popularity to fall Polls shows Bangkokians' disfavour, believe in plot to avoid tax Post Today The prime minister's popularity has decreased after the Shin Corp stock sell-off in a tax-free deal. People believed every step of the sale had been planned in advance. The Abac poll released its survey results conducted with Bangkokians on the level of popularity of Mr Thaksin's image after the Shin Corp stock sell-off, saying that his popularity declined after he sold off the stock as a tax-free transaction because they believed that it would (adversely) affect the national interest. At the same time, respondents were certain that the amendment to the telecom law allowing aliens to hold more shares had been planned in advance. Post Today Saturday 28 January 2006 |
