Shin story implausible: step down, academics Shinawatra's spokesman passes blame onto SEC Post Today The spokesman for the Shinawatra family said the PM's children sold their stocks in a transparent manner and had reported every transaction. The Securities and Exchange Commission rejected this claim, saying they were unaware of the transaction details; therefore a preliminary assessment indicates reporting requirements were violated and a tender offer was improperly avoided. On the same day, academics from many universities reacted busily. After 19 lecturers from Thammasat's Faculty of Economics signed a letter, early in the morning, asking Mr Thaksin to resign on the grounds he lacks ethical standards, intended to avoid paying taxes, created domestic debts by handing out easy money, negotiated with foreign countries for self interests, etc. Therefore he lacks the legitimacy to continue in his position as the country leader.
