week we look at the way to make compound words by adding the affix khrûeang in
front of mechanism, apparatus, machine, or instrument. In todays conversation
we have khrûeang bāmbàt nám sǐa (khrûeang + [v.] bāmbàt), for example. An
office is a place where we find many appliances beginning with khrûeang: khrûeang
thài èkkàsǎn (a photocopier) khrûeang
lǎo dīnsǒ (a pencil sharpener) Heres a little

The water expert / phû chîeochān rûeang nám This is the fourth part of a six-part series on the celebrations for the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King's Accession to the Throne. Today, we discuss an area where His Majesty the King places special attention - water conservation and management. This was reflected in the King's address at the Chitrlada Rahothan Palace on 17 March 1986: "There must be water for consumption, for cultivation, because life is there. If there is water, human beings can live. If there is no water, no one can exist. Without electricity, human beings can live. But if there is electricity, but no water, human beings cannot live." The conversation this week focuses on HM the King's activities dealing with water. It also includes other related words and phrases in natural Thai.
