Welcome back
to a new adaptation of Phût
Phāsǎ Thāi after our transitional Songkran
break. As per the valued suggestions of our readers, the transliterations
now follow the Royal Institute's system (http://www.royin.go.th/th/profile/index.php),
which includes tone markers. In terms of content, the column will
continue to provide you with
everyday language on specific topics.

Phût phāsǎ Thai New Year’s resolutions / khôen pī mài láeo Making a resolution is a helpful idea, and even though the tradition is Western, many Thais are adopting this pragmatic practice toward achieving personal goals
Happy New Year! Sawatdī pī mài kha! May your New Year be filled with success and prosperity. Now that we are in the New Year, we always wish we'll see and get something new and nice. You probably spent New Year's Eve looking back to the past, and looking forward to the coming year. Probably you've reflected on the changes or improvements you want (or need) to make and have made your mind up to follow through on those changes. Even though the making of New Year's resolutions is a Western custom, many Thais often make resolutions, too. |
