requisition (rek wa ZISH un)
The verb requisition means to formally demand or request something.

    Privately-run quarries are not allowed to stock explosives but must requisition supplies from the local military or border patrol for immediate use.
    For the job, he requisitioned a 60-tonne crane.
    Some flights were cancelled and fuel had to be requisitioned for essential services.
    "What we can't requisition, we'll steal," the officer was quoted as saying.

quarry (KWA ri)
The noun quarry refers to an area that is dug out from a piece of land or a mountain to get at stone or minerals. Quarry can also refer to something that is being hunted.

    Security forces in the deep South are on full alert following a raid on a Yala quarry where a large amount of explosives was stolen at gunpoint.
    The housing development was to be built near an abandoned quarry.
    The salt quarries contained large supplies of weapons and ammunition.
    The hunter was separated from his quarry by a large wall of ice.

The verb wither means to dry up and die or to become very weak. The adjective form is withered.

    In Phrae, many tangerine trees in orchards around Wang Chin district are withering.
    The sport slowly withered in American.
    The low brick walls were covered with withered plants.
    The bag was shrunken and withered with long wrinkles running downward from the drawstring.

The adjective parched means to be extremely or abnormally dry.

    Pad's hopes have vanished, sucked into the parched earth.
    Her father fled his parched farm in Khon Kaen.
    Peasants from the impoverished village scratched at the parched soil.
    My mouth and throat were parched and I had little strength.

abdomen (AB da mon)
The noun abdomen refers to the part of the body below your chest where your stomach and intestines are. The adjective form is abdominal (ab DOM a nul).

    The sergeant was shot three times in his abdomen and died at Hat Yai Hospital and 2am yesterday.
    If the doctor had used a stethoscope to listen to her abdomen he would have realised that something was seriously wrong.
    If the appendix bursts, it spreads infection throughout the abdomen.
    The 19-year-old was rushed to hospital with severe abdominal pains.

grace
The noun grace means to move in a smooth, controlled and attractive way or to behave in polite, pleasant and dignified way even in difficult circumstances. As an adjective grace can refer to extra time given to allow someone to finish something.

    The young athletes twisted and turned with grace and ease.
    The beautiful ceremony took place with grace, delicacy and refinement.
    She fulfilled the role of "Queen Mum" with grace, carrying out a grueling schedule of public appearances well into her 90's.
    The one-year grace period is intended to give time for operators to bring their products up to safety standards.
