tangible (TAN ja bul), intangible (in TAN ja bul)
The adjective tangible means to be clear and definite enough to be easily seen, felt or noticed. The adjective intangible, on the other hand, refers to something that is difficult to define, especially something that is abstract (a quality or idea rather than something physical).

    Urban-planning lecturer Yongtanit Pimonsathean welcomed the plan, saying it recognised both "intangible heritage, like lifestyles and traditions, in addition to tangible heritage, like architecture."

mainstream (MAIN stream)
The adjective mainstream refers to people, activities or ideas that are considered to be most typical or normal.

    At least 13 people were reportedly wounded in an overnight sweep on Saturday by mainstream rebels searching homes for renegade fighters.
    These theories are widely accepted by mainstream archeologists.
    The problem gets very little attention from the mainstream media.
    Mainstream Muslims denounced Bin Laden's call for attacks on all Americans.

truce
The noun truce refers to a (usually) temporary agreement to stop fighting or arguing.

    Street fighting erupted in Baghdad yesterday and sporadic gunfire echoed across Fallujah despite a new US truce offer and an effort by Iraqi officials to secure a peace deal with insurgents.
    The two sides initially planned to declare a truce at 2pm.
    The defence secretary said military operations resumed when the unilateral truce lapsed at 6pm.
    The UN Secretary General was trying to broker a truce to end almost two weeks of fighting.

ornithologist (orn a THAL a jist)
The noun ornithologist refers to a person who studies birds.

    The coastal habitats of shorebirds would be threatened by the government's gulf bridge project, a senior ornithologist has warned.
    Ornithologists said it was the first time ivory gulls had been sighted at the pole.
    Disney has hired a consultant ornithologist for its Discovery Island project.
    The swamp was turned into a sanctuary, largely through the efforts of local ornithologists.
